James Potter was Harry Potter's biological father. He was killed the night of 31 October 1981 along with his wife Lily when they were attacked by Lord Voldemort, who planned to kill Harry as well.

Biographical InformationEdit

Born on 27 March 1960, James would have begun attending Hogwarts in 1971, the year he turned eleven. He met Lily Evans sometime during their time in school together, possibly on their first trip on the Hogwarts Express, as remembered by Severus Snape in the canon universe. James was probably sorted into Gryffindor, based on Professor McGonagall's comment that Harry, on the basis of personality alone, was definitely related to the Scourge of Gryffindor. Also during his time at Hogwarts, James would befriend Sirius Black, of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Black.

James would have left Hogwarts around June of 1978. James inherited vast fortunes from his affluent parents, and was able to comfortably support his family without the need for a paying job. James also used his wealth to support Remus Lupin, who was unemployable due to his status as a werewolf.

James and Lily married after leaving Hogwarts, and on 31 July 1980 Harry was born to the couple.
