Hannah Abbott is a British half-blood witch, a Hufflepuff student on Harry's course, a minor character in the novel "Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality".

First year

Hannah first appears at the Distribution Ceremony, where she is assigned to Hufflepuff [1]. Then she attends a potions lesson, where she witnesses a scene between Harry and Professor Snape. Hannah attends a lesson on the Patronus spell and, frightened after the incident with Hermione, refuses her attempt to try the spell [2].

In early November, Hannah becomes a soldier of the Sunshine Regiment. Over time, she becomes interested in Neville Longbottom, a lieutenant of Chaos Legion[3].

Hannah, along with Hermione, Susan Bones, Padma and Parvati Patil, Tracey Davis, Daphne Greengrass, Lavender Brown and several other students and professors, appears at a rally near Dumbledore's office, where Hermione proclaims the Society for the Promotion of Heroic Equality for Witches[4]. Hannah joins the organization in the hope of becoming a heroine and impressing Neville Longbottom. However, during a battle with a seventh-year Slytherin, Hannah gets several injuries and ends up with Madam Pomfrey[5]. Then the Society for the Promotion of Heroic Equality for Witches is again attacked by Slytherin bullies from the seventh year. Hannah is taken hostage, but this time her friends win (not without the participation of seventh-year Nymphadora Tonks) [6]. Hannah and her friends witness a Harry Potter performance that saves them from an attack by the Slytherins. [7]

In April during a battle between the armies, Hannah pulls out of the fight due to a severe injury (Neville Longbottom kicks her in the stomach) [8]. She attends Professor Quirrell's surprise exam and passes it at least "Acceptably" [9]. During Harry's battle with Voldemort, Hannah, most likely, like the whole of Hogwarts, was at the final Quidditch match.

Physical description

Hannah was a pink-faced girl with blonde hair. She usually wore pigtails. Every morning, Hannah paints her nails yellow.

Personality and traits

Hannah is timid, shy and a little insecure. She is very diligent, but sometimes nervous and because of this can face difficulties. At the same time, Hanna is not stupid - during the battle under the water, she came up with a complex plan to force the Dragon Army and the Chaos Legion to fight each other [10].

Magical abilities and skills

Hanna did well in Defense against the Dark Arts - her participation in the battles of Professor Quirrell and S. P. H. E. W. developed her fighting skills.

  • In chapter 18, it turns out that Hannah, like many students, is afraid of Professor Snape.
  • It seems that Hannah is having difficulty with Spells, as in chapter 29, Hermione helps her and several other Hufflepuff Girls with homework.
  • Of all the Society for the Promotion of Heroic Equality for Witches, Hermione is most worried about Hannah.
  • It is known that she was very worried about the escape of Bellatrix Black.
